What are your thoughts on signing up for Amazon Associates ins 2023?
I know several people who have used them and in the past, they have been amazing and provided a means to earn through blogging without the use of ads. Having looked at the commissions earned since 2020 however, it appears to have dropped significantly for a lot of members. Many of them have complained, stopped the program, or walked away from Amazon entirely over it. I have not used it in several years and was considering it for next year but I am not sure it would be worth it if I am not earning much.
They say you can earn "up to 20% commission" but most seem to earn less than 4%.Â
I would say this is probably the most popular affiliate program out there having been around fore over 10 years. I think being a part of it is good and you should do it, now and in 2023 but you should NOT rely on it for a large margin of your earnings. The rates at which you earn are product specific. Amazon games have the highest at 20% with luxury items and brands being beneath that at 10%. That is as of 2022. These percentages will likely change. The bounty aspect also changes year after year. Right now there is a focus on Prime registrations, for obvious reasons.Â
The biggest complaint I am many other uses have had is the fact that they change the categories all the time and the percentages in which you earn are never stable long term. The average conversion rate also changes too. I have had it go from 8% down to 2%.Â
So all that being said, I think it is still worth it in 2023, just do not rely on it as a means of stable income. Consider it a bonus.Â

That is rather bothersome that you can start a site and have your earnings be great and them tank the following year due to them changing categories. I will apply for it and see what I can manage with it. What can it hurt at this point? I think you are right when it comes to not relying on it. It would seem silly to rely on it as a means of income when it is not very stable. More stable than some but they seem to change things all the time.Â
I'll have to look into "Amazon games" more. I would imagine that directly ties into their company and not general games found on like Switch, PlayStation, etc.Â
